WILL SHELDON
SEASON OF MIRACLES
DECEMBER 1 – NOVEMBER 14, 2024
Heidi is pleased to present Season of Miracles, an exhibition of new works by Will Sheldon.
Expanding on his fascination with religious and historic Italian paintings, Sheldon began this latest series in New York but felt compelled to complete the works in Italy, where he spent a month in solitude in the Umbrian mountains. These new works further his ongoing exploration of the amalgamation of classical iconography with subcultural elements.
Born in 1990, Will Sheldon lives and works in New York. The artist’s distinctive works—whose subjects range from ball-jointed dolls, studies of his creative collaborators, to eerie landscapes—are situated between reality and fantasy, playing with the idea of simulation. Sheldon’s imagery carries an otherworldly atmosphere, evoking contrasts of seduction and repulsion, comfort and unease, intimacy and distance. Ever curious and experimental with his painterly process, he continually forges new directions, pushing the boundaries of his practice with each work.
